More Smart Phone Security

May 28, 2010

For those of you who saw my presentation at EJC a few weeks ago, I talked a bit about how to disable or block your smartphone if its lost or stolen.  Well Symantec is releasing a new mobile version of Norton designed to remotely disable your phone when misplaced.  Its a free app for Android and Iphones (and I am sure other models will follow) due out in June, 2010 .  It works by sending a text message (you have to borrow someone else’s phone to do that) to your phone that deletes all the data from your phone and locks it down so it can’t be used.

Network World has a nice article about it – check it out here.
